Hard to believe that it has been over three months since we have had the chance to return to Haiti. Our next trip is planned for February 14th and we are getting more excited by the day!!! It has been an amazing holiday season watching everyone step in and help fill the needs of the Haitian people. We were able to raise the money needed to not only help with the teacher's salaries at the "Fisherman School" but rather pay off the entire balance for the school year 2011-2012. Praise God!! In a country where teachers only make $50-70 a month, its hard to believe that even that was too much for the school to be able to fund. Families spend that much on coffee alone here in America each month. Sometimes I think many people don't realize that there are people in other parts of the world who go days on end without being able to feed their children and families. Together we have made it possible for these teachers to provide them and live without the worry of where they will find the money for that next meal.
As our next trip approaches, our new team of 15 volunteers is getting excited as they prepare for the work we will be doing while in Haiti. Our team consist of staff, individuals from the community, parents and even grandparents of our families here at Celebration Christian School. Each one of them comes with their own gift of service.....construction, doctors, caregivers, teachers, etc. They will not only be blessed by the work they will be doing, but will be blessing the Haitian people we have the privilege to work with.
Please check back and follow our trip. We will be blogging each night (as long as we have internet connection and electricity!) so you can see what we have done throughout the day. We will try to post pictures and make you feel like you are right there with us......and who knows, you just might be one of the team members on the next trip!!!
